Muslims protest insulting cartoons
Western countries are increasingly concerned over the mounting crisis because of cartoons insulting Prophet Mohammed. Their interests may be at stake. Irish Foreign Minister Dermot Ahern described a French satirical magazine's re-publication of the cartoons as "deliberately provocative".
French President Jacques Chirac also accused newspapers that printed cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed of "provocation". He said Freedom of expression must be exercised in a spirit of responsibility.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin urged Denmark to apologize for originally publishing cartoons. He condemns the caricatures, saying they provoke and offend the feelings of the faithful".

Danish Imams Propose to End Cartoon Dispute
The Danish imams, who protested the publication of 12 Muhammad cartoons [see them all below] in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten last September, have announced that they want to end the dispute. For four months the imams and their radical Muslim organizations have unsuccesfully demanded government censorship. However, despite immense pressure (also from international organizations such as the UN and the EU) the Danish government refused to call the newspaper to account.

It is also essential that all Islamic and Arab countries be unified against such actions and insults which harm all religions. These countries should implement strict diplomatic and economic restrictions against the Danish government if it fails to render an apology, he added. The Islamic Alliance, too, rejected the continuing insults against Islam and Muslims, saying “these insults are now very clear for all people worldwide to see.”
